Flowering Plants in Year 3/4

This half term in Year 3/4, we have been learning about flowering plants. The children began by finding out about the functions of the roots, stem, leaves and flowers, before setting up some investigations into what conditions a broad bean needs to grow. Last week, the children were lucky enough to dissect a range of different flowers, identifying all the different parts and talking about what role they play in plant reproduction. The flowers were very kindly donated to us by Posy and Stem - a small business in the village who make beautiful flower arrangements.  This week, the children have been looking forward to checking on their broad beans and making conclusions based on their observations.
