Fenstanton 1-4 Willingham

Willingham beat Fenstanton 4-1!

On Tuesday afternoon our football team played their second friendly of the year, this time it was away to Fenstanton.

This was a game just for the year 6 boys as the year 5's would be playing in their own game the following day against Cottenham year 5's.

Willingham got off to a great start with a wonder goal from Ollie which was a long range effort that flew into the top corner! 1-0 to Willingham.

Willingham were on top and playing some really good football with John, Seba and Lucas linking up well with Ollie up front. The defence was solid too with Dexter leading the line with some strong clearances, Dan, Harvey and Joe were working well with him too. This was leaving Alistair well protected, making little saves as the team were defending well from the front.

The game got to half time at 1-0 to the visitors.

Mr Carminati gave the simple message at half time for more of the same..just to have a few more efforts on goal!!

The boys listened and got off to the best possible start with another rocket from Ollie who buried the ball into the bottom corner, 2-0.

It was quickly 3-0 as Joe pounced at the far post with a neat finish capping off a good team move!

Fenstanton started growing into the game and took advantage of Willingham's attacking tactics and forced Harvey into some excellent saves. They finally got their deserved goal with a thunderbolt from the edge of the box, 3-1.

Willingham were able to add a forth just before the end with a clever finish from Alistair into the far corner of the goal, full time 4-1 to Willingham.

This was a good performance from the boys against a decent side and it was very pleasing to see John play his first (hopefully first of many) game for the school.
