Year 2: Monsters!
In the last lesson of our work on castles, we dared to go down to the dungeon and find out what might be lurking in the darkness! The Year 2s enjoyed using their imagination to draw colourful and friendly monsters.
We began by investigating the difference between chalk and oil pastels. I encouraged the children to try out both on spare bits of black paper and to use the one they felt best suited their project. We also discussed how to use the direction of our marks to suggest fur:
The children found that the chalk pastels were brighter but smudged more easily:
They were very happy with their results:
