Year 2: Starry Night
This week, it was time to put the finishing touches to our background painting before adding the foreground details. Photographs of our first lesson on Van Gogh can be found here.
We began by comparing our work so far with the original painting and decided that we needed to add more blue to the background:
We drew the village, church and cypress tree on a separate piece of paper using oil pastels and then applied this to our paintings:
This project involved several stages and the children developed a familiarity with and understanding of the different elements of Van Gogh's original painting. They were very pleased with their own finished versions:
I think that they look amazing!
