Willingham Primary School is a community school for pupils aged between 4 and 11 years old. Cambridgeshire Local Authority is responsible for setting the admissions arrangements and the published admission number (PAN) of pupils. Our PAN is 60 per year group.
In the event of oversubscription, the following criteria will be used to determine the priority for places:
- Children who have an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) that names the school will be admitted. NB. Those children with an EHCP that does not name the school will be referred to the Statutory Assessment Team (SAT) to determine an appropriate place.
- Children in Care (CIC) and Children who were previously in care (CIC) but ceased to be so by reason of adoption, a residence order (now known as a child arrangement order) or special guardianship order and Children who appear to have been in state care outside of England and ceases to be in state care as a result of being adopted.
- Children living in the catchment area with a sibling at the school at the time of admission;
- Children living in the catchment area;
- Children living outside the catchment area who have a sibling at the school at the time of admission;
- Children of members of staff, providing that they have been employed for a minimum of two years and / or are recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skills shortage.
- Children who live outside the catchment area, but nearest the school as measured by a straight line.
In cases of equal merit in each set of criteria, priority will go to children living nearest the school as measured by a straight line.
Admission to School for children aged four
All children are admitted to school in the autumn term. An introductory programme of visits for children and parents takes place in the summer term prior to admission. We work hard to ensure that starting school is a calm and natural progression from pre-school. Parents have the opportunity to meet the staff and discuss the start of school at our New Intake evening in the summer term. All parents meet with the new teacher during the autumn term to discuss the way that their child has settled into life in school.
Admission to School for children in other school years
Prospective pupils and parents are encouraged to visit the school during the working day. Application forms can be completed and parents are advised when a place may be available in a particular year group.
